Education
is the most important journey in human’s life; it is
also the index of a country’s success.
For the
past half-century we had witnessed the advance of
education due to our country’s economic, political,
cultural success. As globalization of a newer and
faster era is in demand, the wave of educational reform
has hit the world.
Each country is in search of
the best education to cultivate modern citizens. Education is no longer a basic living skill; it is a
competition of our children’s ability and special
quality that allows them to build self-confidence, care
about society, and cherish nature.

The first concept of
educational reform is to propel education. Studying was
thought to be the best way; however, students do not gain
confidence. In a versatile society multiple values need
to be built to assure students at different fields and
different specialties. Whether it is in schoolwork,
sports, singing, drawing, or social services, each performance
should be encouraged and assured to prepare students for the
challenge they face in the 21st century.
To be able to attain these goals,
there are few points in our education policy:
1.
Improvise the concept and value; rebuild versatile
value.
2.
Ensure student’s learning rights; carry out equal
education opportunity.
3.
Encourage parents to participate in school affairs;
expand education development motivation.
4.
Organize and construct reformation; empower the school
instead of Bureau of Education.
5.
Unite educational resources; build school system
partnership.
6.
Insure teachers and educator’s professional rights;
promote knowledge and carry out education self-independence.
7.
Class and teaching reform; teaching and learning are
the main goals of education.
8.
Promote global education; English teaching in all
elementary schools.

9.
Create an atmosphere of leisure exercise; promote
physical education to citizens of Taipei.
10.
Evaluation and receive feedback; strengthen research
and development system.
11.
Construct information education environment; normalize
basic learning competition.
12.
Promote lifetime education toward learning society.

Educational work is a
long-term project and ideas need to be pass down for the best
results. As the educational reform comes to a new
century, we will see an individual’s daily ability,
competition between countries, and the structuring of a new
culture. Therefore, the staff of Education department
work diligently and thoughtfully to judge exterior objective
qualification element to have confidence in inner element.
